Suzana Stefanovic, principal cellist of the Spanish Radiotelevisión Orchestra since 1990 ,was born in Belgrade ,where she started studying cello with Relja Cetkovic at the age of seven.

In 1983 she continues her education at the Indiana University School of Music with Janos Starker,who names her his assistant .Upon receiving the Artist Diploma with honours in 1988, she moves to Barcelona,where she is assistant principal of the City of Barcelona Orchestra and professor at the Liceo Conservatory.

Since an early age Suzana won numerous first prizes at yugoslav competitions for music students, the city of Belgrade “October Prize” for her “intense musical activity” and the First prize at the Music Artists Competition in Zagreb in 1987.

She performed as a soloist with Zagreb, Belgrade, Sarajevo and Skopje Philharmonic orchestras , with the Zagreb Soloists, the Spanish Radiotelevision Orchestra, City of Barcelona Orchestra, Community of Madrid Orchestra and the European Chamber Orchestra,under the battons of Sergiu Comissiona,Franz- Paul Decker, Pavle Despalj, Giannadrea Noseda and others, performing concertos by Haydn, Dvorak, Beethoven, Brahms, Bloch and others.

Suzana commissioned and premiered numerous works by spanish composers in recitals in Spain and Colombia. As the founding member of Spains´s first professional string trio, Trio Modus, she also gave the first performances of new works written for the group and the premiere in Spain of the “Divertissement” for string trio and orchestra by Jean Françaix.

With the “Clara Schumann” piano trio she performed most of the classic and romantic repertoire, including a chamber music series of all of Brahms´ chamber works with piano in Barcelona and Madrid. Recently she played recitals for cello and percussion and a series featuring Beethoven´s complete works for cello and piano.

Suzana Stefanovic has taught extensively throughout her career. She held posts in various music schools and conservatories,in Majadahonda and Guadalajara, and gave masterclasses all over Spain and in Colombia . She is regularly invited to train cello sections of the youth orchestras of Spain, Madrid, Cataluña, Canary islands and others.

Since 2014 Suzana teaches at the Progreso Musical´s Grado Superior in Madrid.
